Former Pitt Target, 2024 4-Star QB Trever Jackson Decommits From Ole Miss

Former Pitt target in Class of 2024 four-star quarterback Trever Jackson announced that heโ€™s no longer committed to Ole Miss on Sunday.

“After a discussion with my parents and coaches, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from the University of Mississippi,” Jackson wrote in a statement to Twitter. “While I am grateful to coach Lane and the entire staff for this opportunity I have determined it is best for my future to reopen my recruitment at this time.” “GODSPEED”

Jackson originally had Pitt in his top five schools, which also included Tulane, Indiana, FAU and Appalachian State. He also made an official visit to Pitt in late May, which indicated to many fans that he would make Pitt his home in the future.

Rod Rutherford, who attended Perry Traditional Academy in Pittsburgh before going on to star at Pitt as a two-time All-Big East quarterback, is Jacksonโ€™s quarterback coach down in Florida, which played a role in his relationship with Pitt.

That final five schools changed once he received more interest from bigger schools and improved from a three-star rating to a four-star, thanks in large part to his performance at Rivals Camp Miami back in May.

Trever Jackson soon announced his commitment to Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin at the end of August. Before deciding on Ole Miss, Jackson had Oklahoma, UCLA and Texas A&M as his other finalists.

As a junior at West Orange, leading his squad to a district title (in 10 games), he completed 96-of-162 pass attempts (59%) for 1,559 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions and added 306 yards (5.9 per) and six touchdowns on 52 carries.

He transferred to Jones High School in Orlando, Fla., but hasn’t seen his passing production improve from last season. He has completedย  32-of-62 passes for 583 yards and six touchdowns, but has improved his rushing output, with 378 yards on the ground and six touchdowns in 2023.

247Sports ranks Trever Jackson as the No. 16 quarterback, No. 38 recruit in Florida and No. 257 in the Class of 2024, respectively.

He could run the slow motion QB option OC called for noted speedster CV 4 times in first 17 minutes then watch his trailing back teammate get lit up for a loss……..wait for it. The most glaring problem of this team is the offense. Inability to design plays to get the ball in the hands of playmakers. If you can waste the aforementioned plays with a QB that is no threat to run (not blaming CV) you can attempt a couple on Bart who was never targeted for 60 minutes or how about the speedster freshman we were told coaches… Read more »

Narduzzi should call Whipple, have him go see this kid and get him to Pitt, as a reward give Whipple his old job back and take advantage of the younger talent we will have, put our present imitation of an OC out to pasture and get back to winning football.

I’m hoping the Steelers hire Coach Whipple. He and Kenny became seamless. Whipple has NFL experience. But I’m pretty sure he won’t work for Naduzzi again.

No Worries Narduzzi will keep Cignetti and ruin any chance.
Not that thereโ€™s much of one to start.
But many a slip tween a cup and the lip.
