Tuesday Night Recruiting Notebook

As the high school football season winds down, some players will turn their attention to recruiting and setting up official visits.

Today, I was able to find out a few out of town recruits that are making plans to visit Pitt.

—Amir Watts (Chicago, Illinois) told me that he plans on visiting Pitt in either December or January.  Late tonight, the 3-star DT also told me that he’s narrowed his list to 3 schools: Pitt, Rutgers and Syracuse. Watts re-opened his recruitment back in August after originally committing to Western Michigan.

—DE Patrick Jones (Chesapeake, VA) informed me that he’ll be coming to Pittsburgh on November 21 for the Louisville game. Jones says he’ll decide between Pitt, Virginia Tech, NC State, California and Illinois.

—-2017 DE Jake Lawler (Charlotte, NC) told me there’s a chance he comes to Pittsburgh to see the Miami, Fla game.  Lawler is a 4-star DE and the teammate of 2016 DE Zack Gilbert. Lawler is a big-time prospect and would be huge to get him to Pittsburgh for a visit.  Lawler already has offers from Pitt, Georgia, Oklahoma, Northwestern, Va Tech Duke and Vanderbilt.

—2016 PF Corey Manigault of Virginia reportedly will sign his Letter of Intent tomorrow with Jamie Dixon and the Pitt basketball team.
