Within the last couple weeks, Michigan State has had 4 players de-commit from their original pledge and one of those players has some interest in Pitt.
Wide receiver Jonah Morris (6-4, 190) from Akron, Ohio originally committed to Michigan State in May. However, last week Morris decided to open up his recruiting and I talked to him about that.
“My parents and I decided it was best if I explore more because I only took 3 other visits prior to committing”, said Morris. “I just think that I should see more things and get to compare schools to see what’s really best for me.”
Morris went on to say, “I don’t have anything against Michigan State, again I just want to see what is best for me and who offers something special. Also, I want to make sure that the coaches don’t just give up on me at some point along the road…….Wherever I feel best for me, that’s where I will go.”
Since opening things up, Morris has heard from Notre Dame, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio State , Oregon and Pitt. He tells me that he expects to pick up some new offers soon.
So what about Pitt?
“I haven’t heard much from the Pitt staff yet but I definitely would go back up there for a visit”, said Morris. “I love the Pitt atmosphere. It’s a great place with great coaches.”
Morris went on to tell me that he’s friends with former Pitt commit cornerback Tony Butler and another name you’ll recognize, “one of my best friends is committed there Bryce Hargrove.”
Morris is a big kid that can play numerous positions: wide receiver, tight end or linebacker. Considering Pitt has Ruben Flowers (6-4, 191) as a commit, wide receiver likely isn’t an option.
Morris is someone to keep an eye on and see if Pitt can get him back on campus for a visit.
