After Pitt’s recent home win over No. 25 North Carolina in which Jamarius Burton dropped 31 points, the Panthers are starting to receive some national recognition courtesy of Andy Katz.
Katz first awarded Burton the “Men’s March Madness Player of the Week” award for his 31-point, six-rebound showing. Burton went 14 for 17 from the field in a clutch performance to lead the Panthers to a 3-0 start in ACC play.
Then, in his weekly “Power 36” rankings, Katz included the Panthers at No. 27, stating the following:
“And just when it looked like North Carolina was ready to roll again, Pitt took down the Tar Heels 76-74 behind our Men’s March Madness Player of the Week Jamarius Burton’s 31 points. Burton scored nine in an earlier win at Syracuse, but he has had other big ACC moments as well, with 24 points in a win over NC State. The Panthers are now 3-0 in the ACC.
Will Pitt make our Power 36? Well…”
Burton and the Panthers now sit at 10-4 on the year with that 3-0 conference record. Their next test comes on Tuesday against Tony Bennett’s talented Virginia Cavaliers at the Petersen Events Center.
I new there was a reason ESPN dumped Katz. Delusional.
The only thing new is you to English. 😂
Fair point Beano.
