Pitt won’t just be hosting No. 14 Louisville but a number of recruits from the class of 2024, 2025, 2026 and even 2027.
One of those freshmen standouts is Larry Moon — a 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback from Pittsburgh Central Catholic in Pittsburgh. While he’s just a freshman, he’s already received a slew of offers from the local universities.
Moon received an offer from Pitt back in June, even before his freshman season began, following a stellar performance at a Rising Stars camp. And it was Pat Narduzzi himself who extended an offer.
“Today meant a lot to me,” Moon told Pittsburgh Sports Now in June. “The dream has always been to be hometown so getting the offer from the hometown school is a blessing. I went out there today with the purpose of competing and trying my hardest. I didn’t go to Pitt this weekend thinking about earning an offer, I just went there with the mindset of competing and showing the coaches my skill level and what I can do.
“I led the warmups, and I led every defensive back drill. I believe that I did it with 100% effort, which I believe made me look good. I think that I proved to them that I can cover. I showed them that I’m fast, I’m physical and that I have the grades.”
Moon currently holds offers from Maryland, Penn State, Pitt and West Virginia, and that list is sure to grow as he continues to make an impact on the football field.
As a freshman playing varsity on a very, very talented Central Catholic squad, he’s recorded 15 tackles (nine solo), playing a key role on the backend.
