Cornerback has become a recruiting priority for Pitt’s Class of 2020 following the de-commitment of Tee Denson.
One player on their radar is Derek Bermudez from Jacksonville Beach and Sunday night a new name entered the picture.
Karon Prunty is a big cornerback (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) from Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, who received an offer from Chris Beatty and Pitt on Sunday night. Prunty recently de-committed from Liberty after receiving Power Five offers from Virginia Tech and Kansas.
Following the news from Pitt, PSN caught up with Prunty to get his reaction.
”Coach Beatty texted me and asked if was I interested in Pitt and I said yes and that’s when he said they want to offer me,” said Prunty.
“This offer means a lot to me and I’m thankful that they recognized my talent and I’m not surprised because I’ve put in the work.“

Despite playing on both sides of the ball and receiving interest from other programs as a wide receiver, Pitt sees Prunty as a big cornerback, similar to Jason Pinnock.

“They’re recruiting me at corner and I’m very coachable,” said Prunty. “I always listen to what people have to say, I work very hard, I’m humble but I also bring swag to the table.”
Prunty said that he’s very interested in Pitt because they’re a good program “that’s on the rise.” In fact, Prunty says that although a date hasn’t been worked out yet that he’ll make making an official visit to Pitt “soon”.
