One of the last WPIAL football players in the Class of 2020 has made his college decision.
McKeesport wide receiver and tight end Deamontae Diggs signed with Youngstown State on Wednesday, ending the recruitment for the 6-foot-5, 210-pound athlete that also played basketball for the Tigers. Diggs had also been deciding between playing football and basketball at the next level.
Diggs chose the Penguins over offers from Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Iowa State, Kent State and Rhode Island.

McKeesport finished the 2019 season with a 9-4 record, losing to eventual champions Gateway in the WPIAL playoffs.
Diggs joins Jeannette defensive back Jackson Pruitt as the second WPIAL player in the Class of 2020 to sign with Youngstown State.
The Penguins finished the 2019 season with a 6-6 record and in eighth place in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. After the season, fifth-year head coach Bo Pelini was hired by LSU to be the defensive coordinator of the reigning national champions.
Former Cincinnati tight ends and running backs coach and special teams coordinator Doug Phillips was announced as the new YSU head coach on Feb. 7.
