Aliquippa WR Will Gipson Finally Gets Pitt Offer

For quite some time, Aliquippa senior wide receiver Will Gipson has been thinking about and dreaming of getting a scholarship offer from Pitt.

So it’s pretty ironic what he was doing when he finally got the news late on Monday evening.

“After the Rutgers coaches came to visit me, I went upstairs to take a nap,” Gipson said to Pittsburgh Sports Now. “As I was sleeping I felt me phone vibrating in my pocket and when I looked it said ‘Coach Narduzzi Pitt.’

”I answered it and he said I got the offer. It was that simple, he just came right out and said it. If I were to select Pitt, he wants me to do the early signing in December.”

He’s admitted to wanting the offer from his hometown school and his play this year has warranted it, but Gipson still wasn’t quite sure to think when he picked up the phone.

“At first I was skeptical, but after hearing the news, I felt relief, a lot of relief,” Gipson said. ” I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

“My mom and dad were very excited because Pitt is so close to my house. A Power Five program right down the road offered me, they were very happy.”

It seems Gipson turns into a heavy lean for Pitt, but he’s going to show some respect to the first two schools that offered him by giving them official visits.

The plan is to make an official visit to Rutgers on Dec. 14 and “will probably” visit Ball State. Pitt is having their first official visit weekend on Dec. 7, but if Aliquippa is still in the state playoffs, he won’t be able to attend.

Gipson went on to tell PSN that his plan as of now is to make his college announcement on Dec. 17, two days before National Signing Day.

Pitt is looking to re-establish its pipeline to Aliquippa. Despite all the talent they produce, since 2008 only three Aliquippa players have committed to Pitt: Kaezon Pugh, Juantez Hollins and Jonathan Baldwin.
