If you were able to learn how to buy shares in a high school football player, North Catholic’s Nikhai Hill-Green’s stock is something you’d want to own.
The 2020 4-star outside linebacker previously held solid offers from schools like Duke, Vanderbilt and Boston College. Wednesday, he got word than Jim Harbaugh and Michigan had offered him.
“Boston College offered me as a sophomore and now their linebackers coach is at Michigan,” said Hill-Green. “The offer didn’t surprise me at all because of the previous interest that he expressed in me.”
When certain schools offer you, it’s a big deal no matter who you are, and Michigan fits into that category. Hill-Green is a popular name in the recruiting world right now but he’s just trying to keep things in perspective.
“Yes sir, my phone has been blowing up,” he said. “It seems like a new coach every day but I try not to let it phase me. I’m still the same guy just a bit hungrier.”
Common sense dictates that Michigan will now be a team that’s high on his list of schools and could end up being the favorite. Hill-Green is thinking like that right now and knows this process has a long ways to go.
“I’m wide open right now,” said Hill-Green. “I just want to see consistency with the coaches, a family atmosphere and great academics. Whoever can provide all of those factors will get my attention.”
What about Pitt? Last week they were at his school and Hill-Green was at The Pete with a group of local recruits for the Pitt/Duke basketball game. At this point, an offer hasn’t been extended but that’s obviously sure to come in the very near future.
“Pitt likes my versatility. They haven’t said anything about an offer yet, but I definitely think their program is a full package of academics and football. I’m wide open to all opportunities,” said Hill-Green.
“Last night was a great atmosphere and the coaches were really nice. The game was great and it was obviously the game to watch if Jay-Z showed up. It was an awesome night.”
