St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has always been a hot spot for Pitt football recruiting.
Today, they’ll be hosting a junior athlete from that talent rich high school.
The’Andris Freeman (6’0”, 175) is a wide receiver that currently holds offers from Boston College, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Purdue, Florida International and Syracuse.
Freeman currently doesn’t have an offer from Pitt but hopes that changes by the end of his visit.
”Pitt has been one of my favorite schools since I was younger and I’ve always liked them,” said Freeman. “I just want to really meet the coaches, see their campus, see everything about them and see if I like it. I know Pitt receiver Dontavius Butler, I grew up with him and he’s one of my close friends.”
“I talk mostly with Coach Partridge and we’ve had good talks. He always has really good things to say about Pitt. He’s been wanting me to come up, get a good look at the school and see if I like it. He tells me about the football program, how good of an academic school Pitt is and how close they are to the Pittsburgh Steelers.”
When I asked Freeman to describe himself as a receiver and some of his strengths, he wasn’t bashful.
“I can play any of the receiver spots, I have an amazing pair of hands and if the ball touches my hand I’m catching it,” said Freeman. “I have good speed and quickness and I don’t get tackled by just one player.”
It’s a big commitment for Freeman to travel up for a visit and when it’s over, he hopes he leaves with an offer.
”I really hope that happens,” said Freeman. “An offer from Pitt would mean a lot to me obviously because they’re one of my favorite schools. If I get that offer, they’ll be in my recruitment till the end.”
